TCGBuddy 2.9
The latest update to TCGBuddy is up now in iTunes, and should fix up the last lot of niggles with the landscape mode and dice mode. As always, please let me know if you run into any problems and I’ll fix em up ASAP
iphone 3gs
OK, so the new iphone is finally here in NZ, so I can test some of these new issues. If you’re having trouble, please use the feedback on the left so I can try and track down some of the new bugs!
10th Edition Rules changes
There’s a whole heap of new changes coming to Magic in 10th edition. I reckon it’s a good thing, since it’s so difficult to teach new players the game! For the record, I really loved the 6th edition changes too
TCGBuddy at Pro Tour Honolulu

Tweets from Honolulu
I noticed a couple of awesome tweets from David Williams and Randy Buehler while they were at the Pro Tour Honolulu event today. It’s great to see TCGBuddy being used at such a high-level mtg event! Here’s the pic that RB linked to:

TCGBuddy in the feature area
The coverage of the Pro Tour Honolulu event this weekend has been absolutely outstanding, with match coverage, a blog, audio podcasts, videos and a great twitter stream. I’d recommend that the coverage team be rewarded somehow, but they’re already in Honolulu having a great time!
Lack of updates – I know
Just a quick “sorry” note to acknowledge my lack of iphone updates lately! Excuses are weak, but I’ve been busy of the last couple of months with a newborn baby. Don’t worry – I’ll need to push out an update soon to make sure TCGBuddy works with the iPhone 3.0 software. If there’s anything you guys want to see in that version, make sure you submit a request in the feedback link to the left!
Burning a magic collection
My schoolmate Che burning his mtg collection. As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. It’s a pity he couldn’t have given the mana drain and duals to one of our mates who would have really liked them
TCGBuddy 2.7 update
The upcoming 2.7 update to TCGBuddy includes a couple of features requested by users – an email option for the match data and a rotate button for the main screen.
The email option
In your History tab, right down the bottom of a ‘Previous Game’ you will find a new button – “Email Match Data“. When you click this button, all of the game data for that current match will be put into an email for you to send to yourself. If you use the notes feature a lot, I hope you’ll find this feature great for playtesting and so on.
Force Rotate
A couple of users have mentioned difficulty with the screen rotation to move the life counter into Landscape mode and back. So, in the latest update, a new option ‘Show Rotate Icon’ has been added to the Preferences tab under ‘Life Settings‘. If this is ON, then a new rotate symbol will appear on the Life Counter that you can tap to force the screen to reorient itself. This feature is unsupported by Apple, so I’m not sure if it will work on all devices – if it doesn’t work for you, please let me know.
Nassif’s game 5 quarterfinal
The Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour Kyoto just happened over the last few days, and was an amazingly entertaining event. The coverage this time was amazing, they had their usual blogs, podcasts and videos, but added in a twitter feed courtesy of BDM and Randy Buehler.
The highlight of the day was this play by Nassif – if you haven’t watched it yet, you’ve gotta see it!
